Worship is an important part of any church, and it is certainly a big part of who we are at Old Orchard Beach UMC. We hold several opportunities for worship throughout the week. No two opportunities are alike:
Sunday Traditional Worship
Every Sunday Morning at 10:00 AM
This service is our version of the Traditional Sunday Service. The service emphasizes our connection with the traditions of the Church while allowing us some flexibility for a more laid back worship atmosphere. If you grew up in the church, this service will more than likely feel familiar to you.
‘A Spot on the Beach’
Every Sunday at 8:00 AM (Memorial Day Weekend - Labor Day Weekend)
This is a new service that was started in the summer of 2006. Have you ever wanted to take off on those beautiful Sundays in the summer but didn’t want to miss Church on Sunday morning? Well, then this is the service for you. This is to fill the need of those that want to get a fairly early start on enjoying their summer Sundays, but still want to take care of their spiritual needs as well. We will meet every Sunday during the summer on Old Orchard Beach at the end of Atlantic Avenue for prayers and praise at 8 AM. Bring your lawn chair and set yourself up for a nice day at the beach afterwards. And if it rains, don’t worry. We’ll still meet at the beach for service. (I like my coffee with cream and sugar…)
Tuesday Evening Prayer Service
Every Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM
This is not a worship service, but it is an opportunity to get together with other “prayer warriors” and lift up our hearts in prayer and praise to God through Jesus Christ. This group spends some time in discussion about the prayer needs of the church and the community and then gets to it and lifts those concerns to the Throne of God.
Youth (ages 5-12) Sunday School
Every Sunday during regular Worship at about 10:30 AM (Sept. - May)
Sunday School is open to kids age 5-12 and a fun time is always in store. Adults are invited to stay in Church while the kids enjoy a time of learning and fellowship. Sunday School material will follow the material presented in Church, so you’ll know what your kids are learning while you enjoy the worship experience.
Gab ‘n Grow
Every Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM
This weekly Bible Study class uses a variety of texts, materials, and topics to explore our faith in fun and challenging ways. This is not a closed group and you are free to join us anytime. As the title of this study may suggest, we don’t just grow through the study of the Bible. We also spend time each week building relationships with one another through the sharing of our stories, our joys, our frustrations, and our concerns. This is a great group for those that are looking for a true sense of community.
