Thank you for visiting our site on the web. We are a growing United Methodist church in a resort community along the coast of Maine known as Old Orchard Beach. If you’ve ever been to Southern Maine in the summer, then I’m sure that you’ve been to OOB. For those of you that haven’t had the chance to see OOB, then you’ll have to come and visit us. For more information about Old Orchard Beach, check out the town’s website.

As for our church, we have been a part of this community for over 100 years. We have a strong ministry to the economically disadvantaged through our very active Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. It is unfortunate that things like this are needed in the world, but we feel fortunate that God has given us this opportunity to minister to those in need right in our very own town.

We have also been the home to Little Horizons Nursery School for over 25 years, and we hope to have them here for at least 25 more…

We are a strong supporter of the community and regularly open our building for community use. We sponsor a local Cub Scout troop that uses our building, as does the local Neighborhood Watch. We don’t think of these groups as merely tenants, but more of an extension of our ministry to our local community. And, of course, we can’t forget about Alcoholic’s Anonymous. This very important group uses our building three nights a week.

As for activities within the church, we hold regular services, Tuesday Evening Prayer Group, Sunday School, and other various small groups opportunities like Gab ‘N Grow.

About our:

Our Mission Statement:

We, the members of the Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church, do now earnestly covenant with God and each other that:

  • We will strive always to discern and do God’s will as revealed to us in the life of Jesus, the witness of scripture and other inspired writings, and in our personal experience of God’s love in our lives.
  • We will esteem the United Methodist Church here in this country and throughout the world, supporting its ministries and desiring its unity in the faith and knowledge of God.
  • We will honor our responsibility to this local church by faithfully attending its worship services and other meetings, working and praying for its harmony, spiritual life and prosperity. We will also give cheerfully of our time, abilities and financial means so that it will carry on its ministry in this community and throughout the world.
  • We will seek the end of all forms of human oppression.
  • We will walk together in love, watching over and caring for one another, sharing each other’s joys and bearing each other’s burdens, being always slow to take offense and quick to make reconciliation.
  • We will cultivate in ourselves and our family and friends a deeper understanding of our faith through study, prayer, witness and worship.
  • We will seek always to lead lives which reflect Jesus Christ within us, that we might always commend our faith to others, by being faithful servants of God’s love and truth.

Alleluia and Amen!
